Information About Family Camps at Trill

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The camps are free and easy. There is no obligation to take part in any of the activities or even stay on the farm – feel free to take off for a dip in the sea or coastal walk. There will be a range of activities on the farm that you can join in with, and these are included in your ticket price.

Each morning and afternoon there will be an activity to take part in, along with arts, walks and wild swimming. Evenings will see wildlife watching, and stories, games and music by the fire.

TIMING

Campsites open at 12pm on the first day of each camp, and close at 4pm on the last day.

FOOD

The camps are non-catered. We encourage you to consider the impact of the food you bring with you, in particular excess packaging.

At Trill we believe locally sourced, organic food is best for your own health, and that of your community and environment. Our shop will be specially stocked to provide you with the ingredients to eat well from our land, and other local, organic and fair trade sources, and will include:

  • Fresh milk & non-dairy alternatives
  • Herb teas
  • Apple juice
  • Fresh bread
  • Butter
  • Preserves & honey
  • Local cheese
  • Fresh salad
  • Lamb sausages

RECYCLING & WASTE POLICY

Across the farm we aim to minimise waste and to reuse everything we can. During this event:

  • Please leave as much excess packaging at home as possible.
  • Fresh vegetable waste will go to our compost heaps.
  • Cooked food leftovers, meat & bread will go to the council for hot composting.
  • Paper & card can be used to start your campfires.
  • Glass will go to a specific recycling bin.
  • A mixed recycling bin will take clean plastic, tin, paper & cardboard.
  • A rubbish bin will take anything else to landfill.

WILD SWIMMING

We have a beautiful swimming lake to take a dip in if the sun is shining. It is around 1.5m at its deepest and contains weeds. Please be aware that there is no lifeguard, and swimming is at your own risk. There will be a disclaimer to sign if you wish to take a dip. You should only go in if you can swim 50m unaided. Children MUST be supervised at all times. No swimming in the evenings please.

WEATHER POLICY

The camps will go ahead whatever the weather. There will be no refunds given. Please dress for the prevailing weather conditions and remember to bring warm sleeping bags & blankets!

TRAVEL

We encourage you to use public transport where possible. On presentation of a public transport ticket, we will give you a voucher for 10% off 2016 courses.

We are a five-minute drive from Axminster Train & Bus station. If you need a taxi, please book a couple of days in advance, as there is not a taxi rank at the station.

See our contact page for directions and details of taxis.

ALCOHOL

This is a family camp and there will be lots of kids around. You are welcome to bring alcohol with you for consumption by those over 18.

ANIMALS

While we love animals, we can't take dogs on site. Please leave all pets at home.
