Follow the seasons at Trill Farm with an art walk through the private grounds, exploring the landscape through watercolour, ink and charcoal.

This open air workshop will guide you on a short walk through some of the most beautiful and private spots Devon has to offer, including open vistas, rivers, tor viewing points, a deciduous woodland with ancient trees, seasonal flowers and undisturbed terrain throughout the seasons.

Each class will focus on sketching the landscape with pencil, charcoal and using watercolours for some finishing touches. A brilliant way to spend the day, relaxing at your own pace you will be tutored in a small group to get the most out of the class.

Please feel free to bring your own favourite pencils/ watercolour kits if you have them, if not Sophie will be selling starter paint kits on the day.

Suitable clothing and footwear is essential as well as a small bottle of water. Routes we take vary on weather, clearer days will be open moorland and poorer weather will be in Wooded valleys and under canopies.

Suitable for beginners but all levels are welcome.

Course Leader: Sophie Berger – BA Hons Fine Art, MA Fine Art

Sophie is a practicing fine artist with work in galleries throughout the UK and abroad, she is a regular teacher for the short courses at Plymouth College of Art , Exeter Phoenix and Kigbeare Studios. Sophie’s work is greatly affected by colour and atmosphere, both of which change due to weather and seasons, so observation of the environment and surroundings influence her work both directly as well as subconsciously. Living in a remote village on Dartmoor, Sophie spends her time on the moors or coastline, sketching in charcoal and coloured ink then using these to influence her oil paintings back in her studio.
